JAMAICAN QUEENS is not your typical pop band. Influenced by hip-hop and dancehall, Detroit’s Jamaican Queens are an indie trio that share the synth pop sensibilities of bands like Flaming Lips and MGMT. Adam Pressley and Ryan Spencer started the group a few months before their previous band, Prussia, broke up, working off of electronic beats that Presley had recorded in his house. Drummer Ryan Clancey entered the fold, and the group released a mix- tape before making a video for “Kids Get Away,” off their 2013 debut full-length, Wormfood.

Make Westing is the rhythmic product of Ben Joyner, Madison Hamburg and Lucas Carpenter. The group started playing music together while living in Savannah during April of 2013, debuting their novel set shortly there after. The high energy post-punk revival/alternative rock & roll group draws their inspiration from classical composers such as: Richard hell, Tokyo police club and Lou Reed.

and DIP

“DIP is about as wacky as a band can get in Athens, and to even call DIP a “band” would be a severe injustice. With songs like “Addicted to Dip,” “The Big Dipper,” and “Dipthong,” DIP is a hilarious rap and spoken word group whose live shows usually involve members rapping over galloping beats and bantering with the crowd between songs. It all makes for a rowdy experience, which Athenians are adept at having. Athens has its share of silly bands, but DIP never sacrifices a good time for their silliness.” - The Blue Indian
